Sports play a pivotal role in shaping one’s personality and maintaining good health
and sound mind. The College offers a conducive sports environment that provides many
supports such as financial and physical to sports boys and girls in participation of different
sports and games. This created a sense of pride in achievements in different sports activities.
The main mission of the college is to bring out students the innate talents and hidden
potentials in sports. The objectives of this practice are:
To inspire, support, and empower students to engage in physical activity and healthy
lifestyles.
To foster self-confidence, collaboration, and perseverance while preparing
them to confront challenges in life.
To increase social interaction, self-esteem, and a positive attitude towards life.
To help the players achieve their full potential by offering them both physical and
emotional supports.
To produce state/national/international level players.
The Context
Sports and Games are extremely important for student's overall development. Sports
are believed to enhance student's concentration, discipline, teamwork, mental acuity, and
confidence. The students' competitive mentality also drives them to achieve academic
excellence. As many of the college students hailing from the rural parts and, it is observed
that these students are physically fit for any challenges in their own fields of interest.
Considering this as strength, the department of Physical Education closely monitors the
students who succeed in sports and provides them with all the necessary assistance whenever
they require. The college encourages its students to participate in sports by providing the best
facilities. By actively participating in sports, students also develop coping mechanisms and
strategies for stressful situations.
The Practice
Right from the time of admission, the college ascertains the sports aptitude of the
students and appoint a well-qualified and experienced coach to train and guide the students in
sports activities. A micro-level sports talent search is a part of the admissions process for the
sports quota, and the college offers the necessary skill training throughout the academic year.
Additionally, there is a system of continual observation that improves performance and helps
to achieve in particular sport event.
Further, our management aims to serve as a model in framing and grooming young
talents by offering free education for the outstanding sports personalities along with free
boarding and lodging. It also appointed well qualified as well as specialized coaches/trainers
(SAI-NIS Training/State/National Medallists) to train and guide the players. The regular
training and upgradation practice commence right from the beginning of the academic year
along with academic activities. The college has five acres of land especially for sports
activities, training halls, indoor auditorium, and well-furnished ground for football,
basketball, handball, kho-kho and badminton. It also has a well-equipped gym in the men’s
hostel.
The department of Physical Education periodically conducts various training camps
and individual events which provide an excellent opportunity to our students to train and
excel. Apart from that, the department has physical education course as an extension activity
in the OBE curriculum which is mandatory to all the undergraduate students.
The aid rendered by our management, the Physical Education Director and the
coaches make the sports personalities of the college shine in all competitions. The rigorous
and mind-blowing support grooms the players, so that they bring many laurels at the
university, state, national and international level sports competition.

Adequate infra-structure, the seamless support given by the management and
outstanding performance of the players takes the college to the next level in all the sports

Problems Encountered and Resources Required
Time constraint is one of the problems encountered during sports practice.
Difficulties in Fund mobilization/finding sponsorship for certain sports.
Lack of coaches/trainers for boxing, archery, athletics, and judo.
Nonavailability of synthetic court for athletic and turf court for hockey.
The management of the college is taking a lot of initiatives to raise funds for
encouraging sports and games.
Despite various resource problems, the college teams won several medals/awards in different
categories during the assessment period.
